Daytona Beach – Amazon has started hiring its new robotfulfillment center here that will open this fall in time before the start of the holiday shopping season.
“Amazon now accepts applications for more than 1,000 full-time positions in its new Robotics-Fulfillment center in Daytona Beach and offers competitive wages from $ 19 per hour and extensive benefits from day one of employment,” according to a press release published by the e-commerce Gigant on Monday 23 June.
The five -storey 2.8 million square feet Amazon Robotic Fulfillment Center is located at 2519 Bellevue Ave. In Daytona Beach, directly south of Daytona International Speedway.
What is an Amazon Robotics Fulfillment Center?
“In Amazon Robotics Fulfillment Centers choose, pack, pack and send employees of customers’ orders,” said the press release. “This is considered as the ‘First-Mijl’ network of Amazon, which means that this is the first point for the package of a customer in the material flow in the supply chain before it is passed on to ‘middle miles’ centers and then a delivery provider to be dropped off at the door of a customer.”

Amazon already has several ‘non-robotic’ facilities here
Daytona Beach has a non-robotic 66,000 square foot “Last-Mijl” delivery station on open in September 2019 in 2400 Mason Ave. (Just north of Dunn Avenue).
Amazon also operates a “first mile” fulfillment center of 1.4 million square foot along the east side of Interstate 4 in Deltona that was opened in September 2020.
The e-commerce giant also has a “pre-first-mile” fulfillment center of almost 1 million square foot across the street from the Normandy Boulevard that is expected to start this fall.
