IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement to launch a new Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, planned to open in early 2028.
The development will be an important step in the expansion strategy of IHG in West Africa, which strengthens the footprint in the bustling commercial capital of Nigeria.
The hotel with 119 rooms works under a franchise agreement with Watercress Hotel International Limited and is managed by Valor Hospitality Partners.
The new hotel is located in Ikeja, the most important administrative and commercial district of Lagos.
This area is an important hub that houses large business office, government institutions and the international airport of the city, Murtala Muhammed International Airport. Crowne Plaza Lagos Ikeja offers useful access to important sights such as the Alusa Secretariat, Ikeja City Mall and cultural sites such as the Nike Art Gallery.
The central position also offers simple connections with popular leisure destinations on the coast, including TarWa Bay Beach and Elegushi Beach, making the hotel attractive for both business and leisure visitors.
Crowne Plaza Lagos Ikeja will contain characteristic facilities that are aimed at balancing work and relaxation. The hotel introduces the next generation of Plaza workspace, which offers flexible, design guided areas for meetings and informal cooperation.
Guests will also benefit from Werklife rooms that combine comfort and usability, making seamless transitions between professional and personal time possible.

The director of IHG for India, Midden -East and Africa, Haitham Mattar, emphasized Lagos as a vital commercial and cultural center with a considerable growth potential.
The new hotel is in line with the IHG development goals in Africa in the long term. Watercress Hotel International Limited expressed trust in the partnership, with the aim of determining a new standard for hospitality in Nigeria by introducing an internationally recognized brand.
This step also reinforces Lagos’ position as an important player in the growing hotel and tourist market in Africa.
With more than 400 Crowne Plaza hotels worldwide, the Lagos project will join a global network that is known for contemporary design and guest-oriented services.
The deal was supported by Hospitality Advice Agency REPOLUS Hospitality Consulting, which advised on brand selection and market -coming to guarantee the coordination of the project with regional requirements.
