Ghella JV secures $ 414.6 million Milan M1 Metro Line Extension Contract

Ghella, in a joint venture (JV) with the Eeteria Consortium and CMB, has received a contract worth around € 360 million ($ 414.6 million) to extend the M1 Milan metro line in Italy.

This project extends the ‘Red Line’ by 3.3 km and adds three new stations.

The contract, which includes safety -related costs and the implementation of the legality protocol, was obtained by a short -term JV consisting of Ghella, CMB and the Eeteria consortium consisting of Vianini Lavori, Itinera and I.CO.P ..

The western expansion of the M1 -Metrolijn van Milan (the Rode Line) starts from the existing Bisghlie station and will have a fully underground route.

The project will include three new stations: Parri-Valsesia, Baggio and Olmi, together with six auxiliary structures.

The majority of the tunnel will be dug out using a tunnel drill, which is expected to minimize the disruption of the surface.

The expansion project will include fire prevention technologies to improve the safety levels for passengers.

Ghella, a company that deals with building large -scale public infrastructure, has a track record of more than 190 tunnels, which connects more than 1,000 km of metro’s, railways, highways and hydraulic works.
