by I will be the first to admit that when I saw Jennifer Lawrence and Kendall Jenner who did a boxer-style shorts and about a few years ago, I thought it was a passing craze that could only do perfect fit celebrities. Like so many ladies there are, shorts make me nervous. Although I like the idea of them and certainly understand their usability, I just never feel that I look good. And let’s not even talk about the in between between the thighs every time I take a step. Once I hit 40, I almost decided to give up shorts for the good in favor of loose, lightweight pants. (These are my absolute favorite, Fyi.)
But the recent heat wave, which brought Temps who was looking for nearly 100 ° F, let me reconsider my life choices. Do I have to give shorts? Maybe that boxer style are not that stupid, is it? I had lunch in a suburb of Tony Westchester, NY, and during my meal I saw three different chic ladies who all wore these striped shorts with fresh white T-pieces, flat sandals in Hermes style and designer bags. I decided, “I’m going to try them.”
I stopped on my way home at Gap, and as if the universe spoke to me, I found a few in my size on the sales rack. Was it meant? I tried them, they fit, and what do you know? I didn’t hate them. Like, not at all. I bought them, she wore the next day, and now I am addicted. Everything I want to wear all summer is these lightweight, PJ-like cotton shorts.

If you are still not convinced, I will understand. Given how long I hated shorts, I would also be skeptical. But I tell you, you have to try this. They are not short, so you don’t have to worry that your loot is shown or they drive in the middle when you walk. Most have an elastic waistband or a drawstring, so they don’t give you a muffin top. They are super lightweight and breathable, so perfect for summer days. And they are surprisingly versatile. I wore my bright pink pair with a white T-shirt, but I also propose to wear them with a swimsuit on the beach or with an oversized button-down linen shirt. As for the unicorn shorts, they might be this, and I would hate to miss.
